EQ Insurance Services began when Farmers Insurance wanted to get out of the earthquake business in California. This led to the founder, Myron Carlson, finding USF&G, which later became GeoVera Insurance Company, a company that would write earthquake insurance and support the agents in his district.
When Myron retired in 1998, GeoVera asked him if he would become a Managing General Agent (MGA) for them so that he could continue to provide an earthquake market for the Farmers Agents. EQ Insurance Services now partners with 7 insurance providers. And if you were wondering, there is no company appointment needed with the Department of Insurance if you are in California. We do business with you as a sub-producer as EQ Insurance Services.
